How to choose the right tarot reader or spiritual advisor for you. Questions to ask, red flags, and how to prepare for a reading. The DO’s and DON’Ts.
You should not go to any and everybody to provide you with insight on a divination level. Everybody should not have permission to read your energy + connect with your ancestors, and you should always choose wisely on who you trust with such responsibility.
Be very careful on who you trust to do a reading for you because they can they can falsify information your guides try to tell you, project evil eye on you, steer you wrong if you’re on the right path, and even hex you (the average person doesn’t know how to correctly hex)
I’m not saying this information to scare you out of getting a personal tarot reading, I’m saying this because due to this surge of spirituality becoming popular there’s a lot of frauds with bad intentions trying to read for others under the disguise that they’re genuine.
You don’t know every person source and what spirits or deities are connected to them. Many people try to disguise themselves as someone who connects to angels and the entire time they’re connecting with demons. Protect your energy and who you give permission to read you.
If you feel as if you have found the right person to become your spiritual advisor or tarot reader, look at their testimonies and reviews. Ask them how long they’ve been doing tarot or divination. Treat it like a job interview. You have to vet this person.
When purchasing a personal reading, you need to know what it is you will be receiving

•the divination tools being used
•where the reading will be performed
•how long is the reading, is it typed, phone call, or recorded? Is it unlimited pulls or a limited spread?
More questions to ask them / or yourself

• When will I receive my reading?
•Refund policy? (If the reading has already been done a refund probably won’t be issued - this is normal but varies)
•How can you book?
•Do they have client discretion?
DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS. A major red flag is when you go to a person you’re interested in making your reader or spiritual advisor and they get irritated when you ask them hard questions they should already know.
Every tarot reader has their own unique price list that’s based off their experience and just what they feel is right when it comes to their time and energy. DO NOT ask a tarot reader to lower their prices for you. Respect their expertise or go to someone else.
I’m letting y’all know now that off the Internet, the average experienced tarot reader price range can be $50-$70 STARTING off. Sometimes they charge an hourly rate if not a set price. So just because you see cheap prices online doesn’t mean every reader fits into that category.
Before you reach out to someone to be your spiritual advisor or tarot reader, look at their collective messages. Do you resonate with their reading style? Does their messages hit home? Do you feel like they speak to you on a personal level? Do you feel drawn to their energy?
If a person collective messages doesn’t resonate for you, then they’re probably not the right person for you when it comes to receiving a personal reading. Now, every collective message doesn’t have to resonate but if they don’t even have one that resonates find someone else.
Ask this person about their religion or their spiritual practices without violating boundaries. Are they Pagan? Are they just spiritual? Do they believe in God(s)? Do they practice African Spirituality? It’s important to know what spirits they connect to on a daily basis.
How does this person represent themselves on social media? Watch how they communicate with other people. Are they always in drama? Are they always being disrespectful to others? Do they come off as empathetic or mean spirited? You need to like this person’s personality too.
When receiving a reading, you need to have an open mind. A reading might not resonate at that moment, but if you look at it weeks or months later it could hit home. Give yourself time to sit with the energy of a reading before you give them a review. Not everyone is a scammer.
When receiving a personal reading, you need to make sure it’s not about you wanting answers to a situation you’re obsessing over. Don’t ask questions you don’t want honest answers to. A reading is supposed to tell you what you NEED to hear, not what you WANT to hear.
Getting too many tarot readings within a short time frame is UNHEALTHY. As in, getting 2-3 tarot readings a week that you don’t really need is very obsessive. That’s too many people accessing your energy. A personal reading once or twice a month imo is healthy boundaries.
Another red flag is if a tarot reader allows you to book them more than once in a week. No genuine advisor will take your money like that because the same message will probably repeat itself. DO NOT book readings obsessively over minor things.
DO NOT:
•Ask the same questions over and over again expecting different results
•Ask questions to spy on another person. If you’re not asking how to overcome a challenge with someone or how to better the relationship, IT’S NOT YOUR BUSINESS.
•Ask future predicting questions
Even though upcoming or future themes can show up in tarot readings, tarot cards don’t necessarily predict your future. Tarot is a mirror of the subconscious and how you react and change your path is UP TO YOU. Your tarot reader cannot alter or change that, only you.
If the reading you’re buying includes you asking specific questions, you need to know how to ask them. If you ask in a crappy way you will get crappy answers. Ask open ended questions so that you can get more powerful insight. Your tarot reader can help you form these questions.
OPEN-END QUESTION
What, How, Why.

•What has been blocking me in finding [topic], and how can I release these blockages?
•How do I attract the right partner for me?

Open-ended questions are questions that cannot be answered with a simple 'yes' or 'no'
CLOSED-END QUESTIONS
Will, When, Should

•Will I ever find love?
•When will I die?
•Should I do [xyz]?

Never ask closed-end questions for a tarot reading because it doesn’t allow for deeper insight.
Make sure the person you choose to read for you take protective and cleansing measures in between reading for other people. Do they cleanse their space often? How often do they cleanse their divination tools?
