I often get worried how much exposure to toxic behaviour in academia affects ECRs and students, so think its time to share some lovely things that have happened recently in my work life...1/6
1. I did a "economic policy hackathon" with @AusEconSoc recently. This is basically speed dating x group project with a bunch of strangers = LOTS can go wrong! But in this case my group were amazing - everyone chipped in, was respectful with each other and had fun 2/6
2. On the subject of economics, I often find economists a bit intimidating, particularly when you are as new in the field as I am. However, some people do really make an effort to be patient and generous with their time (shout out to @rich_norman for being one of these) 3/6
3. I was in a meeting this week with lots of people much more senior to me - which can mean it is tricky to have much of a say. But this time, the person chairing consistently paused to say "I& #39;m interested in what Amy has to say" - it felt so inclusive (and they listened) 4/6
4. I have had great fun (and learned heaps) from chatting to new collaborators who have been incredibly supportive, open, and full of amazing ideas! S/o to @hamdani_usman for being one of these great people! 5/6
5. I continue to be so inspired by our students and the young people in our reference groups, who despite many challenges, have so much enthusiasm and so many ideas to change things for the better. I am so grateful that they continue to remind me why I love research :) TY 6/6
