I've had many convos over the last several days, and I've learned 2 important things;

1) The lack of press releases by the PD about the Blake shooting enabled bad information to circulate widely.

2) There are vast information gaps between cops and non-cops about police work.
Both of these are faults of Law Enforcement.

It is on us to ensure the public has accurate information about controversial events.

It is also on us to help citizens understand the realities of policing. We don't get to scoff at their anger and just say "they don't get it."
That second process begins long before a shooting happens. Public engagement and education help citizens understand what policing is like.

It gives them an informed eye when watching viral videos. It helps they ignore the random Twitter users who put out false info.
