sha po lang by priest is a steampunk historical danmei novel.
its politically focused, the two main characters (general gu yun and fourth prince chang geng) try to defend their kingdom during the war.

2. whats so interesting about it?
first, the plot is amazing! its heavily focused on politics but even if sometimes difficult to understand its never overwhelming.
priest gives you the time to enjoy both the battles and the development of the characters and their relationships.

seriously the politics is good and interesting, the militar strategy too. since the main characters are a prince and a general, so you get tons of both.
the writing is very good! the settings, the battles, the characters and their emotions are all incredibly detailed and well described. them and their story is not sugar coated. they& #39;re alive and they feel very real. i ended up caring for nameless soldiers too.

both of the mcs have an incredible depth.
gu yun is an army general, disabled because of a childhood happening. the way he cares about his kingdom is honestly so beautiful and heart wretching to see. he& #39;s morally gray, has a horrible sense of humor and

stole a flute from a 5 year old. also, hes THE sexy monocle dude.
chang geng& #39;s growth in the story is amazing. how he changes throughout the years, the child he was and the skilled prince he becomes despite what happens (lots of trauma). he controls ministers!!

the secondary characters are also very realistic and just beautifully written. one of the two kids it gnc/trans which is absolutely beautiful to see AND although there arent a lot of female characters miss chen is a strong independent woman kicking ass, which i absolutely adore.
aaand changgu! yes spl is heavely focused on politics and war, but this makes the little moments of peace shared between the two mcs even more tender. they both care for each other so much, but are indipendent and incredible individuals regardless of their partner.
the intimacy they share is such a beautiful part of the novel. LIKE PLEASE CHANG GENG KEEPS HOLDING GU YUNS WAIST OKAY. BECAUSE GU YUN IS SO TINY.
