retweeting so folks have videos in a clear place to watch and form their own opinions on various things. i am white so the thing about bows brothers is not for me to accept apology for. but the other points.... as an autistic dyke.... neither of those were crew comments folks idk https://twitter.com/ItsMonsta_/status/1298854759240069120
i might watch the whole stream just because like.... i didn't know it was happening in the first place but the racist implications are.... not good, let black/poc call out the lack of sensitivity etc, listen to them, do better, but honestly idk what to say to y'all with the rest
I'm the fucking first person to find issue with things - i'm hypersensitive and am a disabled, nonbinary dyke and the disability rep isn't perfect but its a start when we have nothing in "kids" shows. double trouble does play into the inhuman nonbinary trope but they are SO COOL
they are not perfect. yes educate them. yes improvements can and should be made. and i am not going to tell ANYONE how they should or shouldn't feel. pls don't think that. but i just want folks to remember that criticism doesn't mean something is terrible and bad and "cancelled"
please have some common sense in your reactions to things. be angry and upset at things. provide creators with suggestions and criticism. if you are uncomfortable you are allowed to be. but can you please try not to blow things out of context and proportion? pls?
if you have issue with any or all of the things from that she-ra stream, then okay, you are entitled to. but DO NOT comment on issues that are not yours to be offended by unless uplifting those who ARE affected. try to at least give like a scrap of context with your accusations
i am not saying anything that was done was perfect and not an issue but i just feel that we need to watch and make our decisions on what we can and listen to each other and make sure we know what's going on before condemning people and content. mistakes are allowed folks.
provide constructive criticism. tell them they need black writers and disabled staff and that maybe another nonbinary character who is not an alien etc. even queer folks can be racist etc - but don't write off their career before telling them to learn.
this is not saying black or disabled people need to provide the emotional labour of explaining and educating noelle and the team themselves. but the simple act of saying okay this was definitely not ideal go away and see how you can improve on this is a sensible, proactive thing.
anyways i have taken my adhd meds and still done nothing so instead of chanelling into this thread imma go tidy or make something or read. please tell me if anything i have said here is not okay. and remember, criticism is allowed and encouraged with media. form your own opinions
