The Deputy Coroner’s historic finding that "an indictable offence may have been committed" by the police officers, who she said had failed to adequately check on Tanya Day’s safety, security, health and welfare” has failed to achieve justice today for Tanya Day and her family.
The DPP decision that charges should not be laid, based on a flawed investigation model of police investigating police, is unfair, unjust and unworthy of their public office.
This decision entrenches Aboriginal communities feelings of their lives meaning less to the state, not only are we expendable but also not worthy of justice and accountability.
If the Victorian Government led by @DanielAndrewsMP values black lives then they will heed the call of generations of our people and make the changes so desperately needed to ensure a just and equitable society for all not just some #JusticeforTanyaDay
