COMMISSIONING WRITERS

A thread…
One of my dreams for @inkcapjournal is to be able to commission other journalists to contribute. Given that this is a three-month-old project, run on voluntary subscriptions alone, this is not something I can afford right now.
But to make this a possibility, I’ve created a new subscription option. For every four people that sign up to become “commissioning members” of Inkcap, I will commission an independent journalist to write a story. https://inkcap.substack.com/subscribe
In other words, every additional £200 paid through “commissioning” subscriptions will go to a freelance journalist for an original story.
Inkcap is 100% reader-funded, and this will – I hope! – enable me to commission new voices for a fair fee.
I want Inkcap to be a place that offers opportunities for other writers. Maybe, in the future, Inkcap will have enough paying subscribers to make this possible more generally. But until that moment, this is the only way I can think of to achieve this.
Even if I can publish one new writer a year, I think it will have been worth it. Environmental journalism is more important than ever before, and I want there to be multiple opportunities for journalists to publish their stories.
So anyway, for those of you who want to (and are able to) go above and beyond in supporting Inkcap, please consider this. And please retweet!

Thank you. END THREAD. https://inkcap.substack.com/subscribe
