Why Luke Shaw is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League

First of the reason people don’t like Shaw is because of his weight(which he has since lost a lot of it) and because he wasn’t that good under Mourinho even though he was neglected heavily by him.

When people try to explain why they don’t rate Shaw they bring up his lack of assists which is stupid considering he is a LB

When comparing Shaws defensive stats to the best Left Back in the league it shows there isn’t a big gulf in the stats.( Also take into note that Robertson has played 1,379 more minutes)

Shaw is also a versatile defender. He’s played in a back 3 for United a few times this season and has played very well there keeping 2 clean sheets in the 3 times he’s played there.

The fact that Shaw isn’t that good going forward is simply a myth. I’m going to show 3 clips from just after Lockdown where Shaw should’ve had an assist or where he was involved in a goal.

Instance 1- versus Aston Villa away .
Shaw puts in a lovely cross and Bruno really should’ve scored

Instance 2- Spurs away
Shaw puts in a great cross and Martial was unlucky not to score

Instance 3 -Brighton away
Shaw does very well down the left hand he ball is recycled and we score from it

Shaw won our Player of the season last year and has been a vital part in the defence keeping so many clean sheets this year

We’ve also seen how much we’ve missed Shaw in the Europa League and the end of the Premier League and I guarantee we would’ve won the Europa League if we had him fit
