To say I used to dream about working in american animation studios... where do I go from here? I'm disgusted beyond words to see every day another murder of black ppl, another discourse in the art/animation industry about racism, homophobia, pedophilia...
and I know damn well I'm not the first one affected by this. Being white and living in another country definetly helps a lot. Even without touching the fact that I'm trans, I just don't want to endorse anything that the industry would throw at anyone oppressed by the system
What are the options then?Creating an independant studio, @KotLT_Animation's or @StudioYotta's style? With the risk of never taking off, never finding clients because of the lack of contacts? That might be a solution to escape the problem, saying "well it's not my problem now",but
the constant racism, homophobia and classism in the animation industry would still be there. Same with creating my own business, seeking clients... because who knows how those clients are choosing who to hire? And so many more examples like that.
I'm lost, because as many other privileged young (and super naive) aspiring artist, I'm just realizing how my "favorite capitalism structure" is as fucked up as the other ones. SURPRISINGLY
Younger, I used to think that if -I- was not racist/homophobic/transphobic/... , then there was no problem to work in this kind of stuff, because I would be 🌸respectful🌸, ✨open-minded✨, yatta yatta yatta
But after following a lot of marginalized artists online, people who talked loudly about all those problems for years on Twitter ( @clumpsoul_ is a great example)

I realized that participating in this industry is already to much, because it's giving it credit, excuses, energy.
To the few who read this far : You will probably find this thread really naive and poorly constructed. I'm sorry, really. If I said anything stupid, please tell me. Even if I'm trans, I feel like I'm still really naive about everything thrown at minorities.
That said, I really don't know where to go from here. I'm lost.

I hope you will have a great day
