So I deleted my thread on this last night under the rule 'don't tweet in anger after midnight'. I'm still angry about changeover pay. So here's my issue, which I'm sharing for those in a similar position. Writing this recognising the privileged position I'm in as a doctor, btw.
Did 150+ hours locum in Aug, as buying a house in inflated market. Included nights, med reg weekends & evenings. Looks like I didn't get paid for 1 single hour of this.
Told med deployment that I was remaining on the bank in April, June & July. Signed all the paperwork. Did the work. Told today that payroll aren't aware I'm on the bank. Throughout the call they addressed me as 'a leaver'.
I had no way to tell what I'd been paid for, as access to ESR has been cut off and I haven't got a payslip. Apparently it's been posted to me, with a p45.
But the most frustrating thing is that 'all locum pay is paid in arrears' - usually well after the time period in question. No one has been able to tell me when I'm being paid. This is standard in my trust and in many others. Why is this ok? Work is work!
Has anyone else been in this position with changeover pay? Purpose of this thread is to share frustration about the acceptance of this backwards, incompetent system - why do we tolerate this stuff happening *every year*?
