We have to stop referencing money when it comes to signings. The only metric has to be does the player improve the team!!
The money in football is so grossly inflated that there is no relevance.
Does Chillwell improve Chelsea 100% yes.
Does Messi improve anyone 100% yes.

There is no stopping the energy drinks companies, the countries trying to inflate their image, the Oligarchs having a hobby.
An academy coach earning 30k a year and a club paying someone 100k + a week to play for the 23’s is very wrong.

The only way to really address the problem is limiting amount of registered players in a squad, limiting the amount of loans a club can allow to leave, and then making all clubs invest 15% of there expenditure into the community or academy whatever they prefer.
This will improve the state of the game by improving young players and the quantity of good players levelling a playing field, putting more importance on producing players through limited squad size, the loans will stop clubs hoarding players.
The more quality that can be produced and the more evenly they can be spread is the only way to keep national leagues relevant and competitive. Imagine Palace signing Hudson-Odoi because Chelsea can’t have Havertz, Ziyech and him. That immediately improves Palace.
I also believe that as soon as you offer an academy player a pro contract or maybe into his third year of that contract he most be included in your squad, yet again allowing these players to leave for a nominal fee and again being more evenly spread, Angel Gomes at Utd to Burnley
This is the concept of PPP at younger age groups and players moving from cat 2 to cat 1 for basically the cost of a days wage to a senior pro and aiding yet again the bigger clubs to hoard all these players. A chance for Cat 2 clubs to benefit the other way. Gilmor to Saints etc.
Sorry a thread on the crazy transfer prices and my take on the state of football at the moment and gulf between the haves and have nots with regards to being bank rolled. @babuyagu @BootRoomPodcast and @TheAthleticUK #football
