i think midsommar was an effective horror movie but it really is fight club for white women the way a lot of people see the end as a total positive

its scary and upsetting the way that the only way people start to care about dani's grief and trauma is when it can be used to their advantage, and how dani was manipulated into joining so easily because of it, but i feel like a lot of people ignore/dont process that

also its very clear she specifically was chosen because shes the only blonde, white woman in the friend group and the directors cut makes the clear white supremacism ties even more obvious so its jarring to see people unironically act as if the ending is dani finding her home

this isnt me saying there isnt a sense of catharsis in the end, or that there arent certain things in the film that seem justified, its me saying that ive seen people regard the end and dani's fate as a positive endgame for her like shes meant to be there when she was manipulated
