I stand behind this 100%. I’ve said it many times before, you can tell me that one school systems dont contribute to national unity and I will still tell you that it does.
Do I agree with opening UiTM for all? Yes I do. https://twitter.com/wanfayhsal/status/1298506126133047296">https://twitter.com/wanfayhsa...

MRSM’s, SBP’s, Matriculation colleges, and quota based education institutions should switch to needs based. And should focus on anak Malaysia yang menetap di kawasan di mana institusi pendidikan itu terletak.
Set a threshold for household income whereby prospective students who fall into that income bracket will be prioritized instead of ‘connected individuals’. Say household income of no more than RM50000.
And be very stringent. Work with the banks to check the households bank statements. Interview not just the prospective student but his/her parents too. If we truly want to change the education system to needs based.
Pejabat pendidikan daerah should establish a unit to facilitate applications for applicants who may not understand how to apply to enter SBP’s, MRSM, and Universities. Some may not have access to the net and for that reason, we need to make sure education is accessible to all.
MCKK, TKC, and the elite schools seem to always take in the sons and daughters of its alumni who have become extremely successful. If they want to send their children to the same school, charge them higher fees not similar to those who really can’t afford quality education.
UM has a system whereby they take in direct applicants and the fees are way higher than the normal fees. But it is still more affordable than private universities.
Open up UiTM for other races but make sure the entrance is still needs based and set a threshold just like MRSM, SBP, and the rest. With this radical change in the education system, there’s a possibility of building closer race relations amongst all races.
If we truly want to build a united nation, we need to start building those relations when our children are just starting school. Ive always been an advocate of single stream schools. But of course there need be a mechanism to ensure it brings towards unity and quality education.
Should governments allocate funds to Tahfiz, Independent Chinese Schools, Sekolah pondok, and any education institute not related to the government? That’s going to be a hard no from me. If you are independent, you look for your own way of funding your school.
I am all for the abolishment of Vernacular schools. Provided we also provide changes that will justify the abolishment of vernacular schools. One school system. No more segregated school systems. If it’s government funded, make sure the school is Sekolah Bangsa Malaysia.
