#BlackLivesMatter is not the problem for acknowledging hate, prejudice and injustices.
Pretending nothing is wrong does not make systematic racism go away OR bring back black and brown lives ended by brutality.
Change does not come from inaction.

“If everyone ignored it things would be fine and normal”
im sorry ignore what exactly?
You want communities to ignore the murders of their people? You want them to ignore the injustice and disrespect for their lives? Ignore that they dont get equal opportunity/education?
Ignore that their communities are being redlined, receiving less income to their homes, schools, health and jobs? Or gentrified, so they are pushed out and unable to afford to live in their own home. How about that with all of these obstacles, they find ways to survive-
-and are called thugs, ghetto, trashy, worthless...
When all black communities are trying to do is live successful, happy, comfortable lives and the system knocks them down and kills them everyday- the least we can do is say their lives matter.
“Black power is offensive”
Systematically black ppl are oppressed so giving them power (equal opportunity in housing, education, work,,, etc) would make them EQUALS, not superiors like your white power bullshit. Black lives needing to be liberated does not mean suppressing wyts.
“All lives matter”
All lives matter, yes, that is why we support #BlackLivesMatter
in hopes that everyone will treat black and brown lives like they matter as much as white lives. Until they are safe, respected and equal as all lives should be we will say black lives matter.
“Protesting is fine, rioting is the problem”
If peaceful protests are ignored, and rioting isnt the answer then what is?When a hurting, mourning, scared community is being ignored, who are we to judge how they protest?
Do you realize they are protesting to save their lives?
I wish I could teach my family what Im saying, how truly engraved in americas history and society we have in plain sight racism, colorism, sexism, homophobia, colonialism, xenophobia, so much hate.
This thread is a fat rant and my wytguilt is that this isnt my struggle or story..
.. and Im trying to respectfully get it right.
The truth is we need to listen to black women and men because we are fighting for their future to be better. Their experiences, fear and anger matters. Their love, passion and futures matter.
