Steven Soderbergh directed Contagion, a film about a global pandemic that collapses society.

and

High Flying Bird, a film about black NBA players understanding how to use their power to force change.

Well, shit.
In my opinion, Soderbergh is the greatest chameleon of all living American directors and can do any tone, any genre, any aesthetic.

The Out of Sight guy is the Traffic guy, and the Traffic guy is the Solaris guy and the Solaris guy is the Magic Mike guy who did Logan Lucky.
This is true.

It’s also available on Netflix.

and it also stars my girlfriend* so I’d appreciate it if you guys support her. ❤️❤️

Every twelve hours their computers do a self-audit. That means for 26 seconds, 1.7 trillion dolares Americanos are offline.

I don’t know what this means.

But, I always think it’s somewhat important to note that after Soderbergh’s DP did Sex Lies and Videotape, he went and did Charles Burnett’s masterpiece.

To Sleep with Anger.

Makes you wonder what Burnett could’ve been without racism. https://twitter.com/jgulden/status/1298955148887293954
The year after Soderbergh and Sex Lies and Videotape establishes Sundance as the preeminent film festival, and the festival launches Soderbergh’s career.

Wendell B. Harris’ absolute masterpiece, Chameleon Street wins the Grand Jury Prize.

Soderbergh casts him in Out of Sight.
In 1998, Viola Davis is casted in her second film, Out of Sight.

In 2000, Traffic.

In 2001, Ocean’s 11.

In 2002, Solaris.

Guess the director. https://twitter.com/trey_swindu744/status/1298992112088702980
I should also add that Soderbergh made the extremely underseen and phenomenal Unsane, which, I thought, was essential viewing during the height of Me Too.

A woman is constantly gaslit about a man she knows is stalking her.
