Pretty nice crowd, in SW Portland tonight, at Elizabeth Caruthers Park. Getting ready to march.
Marchers have arrived at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in SW Portland. Currently listening to Rick Astley.
Federal Marshalls are out of the building and facing off against protesters. That was fast.
Oh, a beautiful queen is here, it seems.
Crowd yelling for federal officers to go home.
“If you leave now, you can make the airport by midnight!”
“Take Columbia! That’s the fastest route!”
Someone from the crowd of protesters is throwing eggs. The person on mic says they don’t support that. Protesters looking around.
Now water bottles are falling too.
Federal officers clear SW Bancroft and drive protesters up SW Moody with munitions and colorful smoke.
An injured protester fell into a bioswale. They’re carried away to recieve medical attention.
Bizarre push north on SW Moody while the protesters’ sound system plays “yakety sax.”
Another stand off involving dumpsters on S Moody. Sirens on S Macadam caused the protests to pull back further up S Moody in confusion. Then the Portland Police swept in with federal officers and made several arrests.
Protesters withdrew back to Caruthers Park. A resident threw ceramics and glass bottles from their condo, several floors above.
Protesters marched back towards the ICE building along S Bond and officers surprised them from one of those little condo walkways that tries to recreate the pedestrian-friendly feeling of European cities and fails. They used mace and made some arrests.
Currently there’s a prolonged standoff on S Bond. There are MANY one-liners of varying quality. So anyway here are some pics from before, when there was smoke:
I’m out of SW. Here’s some kid art.
