𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. Now, what is the difference between a promise and a commitment? A promise is an agreement we make with the world. A commitment is an agreement we make with ourselves.

The word commitment says 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞
in this unpredictable world. Why is the world predictable? Things change, people change, circumstances change but the word commitment says: 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭.

It doesn’t say I will stand by you till I find a better one.

For my new book that is coming up, I did some research and I found, that 𝟐𝟎𝟎-𝟑𝟎𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 ago in the western world, by in large most marriages were arranged marriages.

That means marriage came first, love came after. Granted they might have had problems, but by enlarge they lasted.

Today, in the western world, most marriages are so-called love marriages, which means love comes first marriage comes after.

Yet, today in the western world the divorce rate is anywhere between 𝟓𝟎%-𝟕𝟎%, and in some places, it is 80%.  Now, what is missing? The missing word is commitment.

In the western world they have come up with a midway, and that is a compromise that is called 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞-𝐢𝐧 relationships. What is the purpose of live in a relationship?  Their answer is we are 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲.

Now, folks, the important thing is, have you ever seen a compatible couple in this world? Show me one.  Are your parents compatible?

Folks, you hear, it is compatibility that keeps a relationship going. Nothing could be further from the truth.

It is not the compatibility but our ability to live with the 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 in our lives. Other than values, nothing is compatible. It is all adjustment. So today what people do is, they live in 𝟑, 𝟒  𝐨𝐫 𝟓 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬, checking compatibility.

Then they get married. 2.5 hours later, they have a divorce. What did you check?  

You know what’s missing. The missing word is commitment!
