As a black man and a major major hockey fan Ive seen a game in every OHL and GOJ arena almost twice. Haven't missed a leaf game in 9 seasons, hockey was always a safe space for me.

It is for the foreseeable future the farthest thing from a safe space.

I was able to rely on the game. Walk into that arena and for 3 hours this "Beautiful" game would take away the pain and suffering i've gone through. The goal horn, the terrible hotdogs and coffee, it was all awesome.
Tonight was just a reminder that this game doesn't care.
I've been called a Ni**er in an arena on multiple occasions.

Kids from other teams would refer to me as a porch monkey.

Or often reminded that my skin color looks like their morning shit.

This game has brought me a ton of joy but tonight is a reminder of the pain.
Guy's like @PuckDontLie and @JesseBlake and many others on this platform are a blessing because as I sit here in tears, they have a way of finding and saying the words I want to say.

It's hard to find anything when the thought of Could I be next is a legit concern.
