Back in June kid no.2 and his fiance bought a house. And since #TyroneTheBoxer🐶 is kid no.2's dog, we knew that he would be taking him there. Not gonna lie. I didn't want the dog here when kid no.2 asked us four years ago. Just didn't want the hassle of having a pet. 1/?
I mean, raising four kids from birth through high school and then college will wear one out. And I just didn't want the hassle of a dog around here. Even though kid no.2 promised he'd do all of taking care of him I knew his promise of keeping the yard poop free wouldn't last...2/
Well, within a week or so, #TyroneTheBoxer🐶 kinda sorta grew on me. Not to the point where I let him sleep with me and The Wife but I willingly gave up my loveseat so he would have a comfortable place to lay down. 3/
I even took over the responsibility of taking him out every morning when I got up and before I went to bed. Yes, kids no. 3 and no. 4 helped out too when I couldn't but he basically became my sidekick. People got used to seeing us sitting on the front porch today. 4/
Me sipping my coffee or another beverage depending on the time of day. They were always amazing that when they walked by the house #TyroneTheBoxer🐶 would just sit at the edgenof the yard as they walked past. He never barked or got into a defensive posture with anyone. 5/
Neighbors always asked if we had one of those invisible fences. Nope. Just knew the boundaries of our yard. Never going into the neighbor's yard unless it was to retrieve a ball or frisbee that landed in it. But there was one thing #TyroneTheBoxer🐶 was always looking out for. 6/
And that was the @UPS truck. For some reason he was fascinated with it. He always watched the driver stop and take packages up to our neighbor's homes while sitting on the edge of the yard. And the UPS driver would always honk the horn as he passed by. 7/
Well, after a month of just seeing me sitting on the front porch alone, the UPS driver stopped in front of the house, stepped into the door of the truck and said "I have to ask. The boxer. I haven't seen him with you the last month. Is he? Did he walk over the rainbow bridge?" 8/
Not gonna lie. But I choked up. I smiled and told him no, that #TyroneTheBoxer🐶 had moved in my son and his fiance. I will say that the driver was relieved. He said that Tyrone reminded him of his boxer who had passed and he loved seeing him. It made his day when he saw him. 9/
I told the driver that Tyrone loved seeing his truck for some reason and that if #TyroneTheBoxer🐶 ever had to stay with us again he was more than welcome to stop. I also said that if he had a treat that he'd make a friend for life. Well Tyrone has been here for two weeks 10/
Because his sister had to have some surgery. Last week the UPS driver came by and saw me and Tyrone sitting on the front porch and he slammed on his breaks to stop. The joyous smile on his face was priceless. He sat down on the steps of the door and called Tyrone over. 11/
He asked if he could give him some pork rinds since he didn't have anymore dog snacks. I told him of course. Tyrone would love to have some. He said the next time he would have some better for him.12/
Well today "Rush" the UPS driver came by today and stopped and he had something better for #TyroneTheBoxer🐶, some turkey jerky. On this #NationalDogDay I want to thank you "Rush" for making Tyrone a happy puppy. 13/13
