I have some exciting personal news. We live in a highly toxic political environment, and more than ever, it is so critical to engage in bipartisanship and reach across the aisle. In light of that, I'm announcing an event with a politician I fundamentally disagree with. (thread)

For her entire career, @SarahEMcBride has firmly stood against pineapple on pizza. Her bigotry against this topping is something I have found unconscionable, and we have strongly opposed each other on this issue for years. But this strife must end.

Despite her anti-pineapple hatred, I am today announcing that I will co-host a fundraiser for @SarahEMcBride as she seeks to become the first openly-trans state senator in U.S. history. I am putting aside our differences for the greater good.

To that end, tomorrow night at 6pm ET, @SarahEMcBride and I will be co-leading a happy hour fundraiser for her and three other pro-choice Democratic women running for office in Delaware: @KyleEvansGay, @Vote_Debbie, and @StephanieBarry4DE.

. @KyleEvansGay is a mom working to flip her seat. She didn’t set out to do this - she was a concerned mom who drove down to speak to her legislator… who was never there. Kyle was sick of it, so she’s flipping her seat for the other concerned moms just like her.

. @Vote_Debbie is a retired U.S. Army Colonel. She’s served our country, now she wants to serve her community.

.@StephanieBarry4DE is a single mom who wants to make sure that she can afford healthcare for her family. She challenged her Republican legislator in 2018 and lost by 409 votes. This year, we’re putting her over the top.

And, of course, my friend @SarahEMcBride. Despite her anti-pineapple stance, she’s running to guarantee paid leave for working families in her home state, after already working to pass landmark nondiscrimination protections in 2013. She’s a fighter.
