BREAKING: The shooting officer has been identified as Kenosha Police Officer Rusten Sheskey. He has been an officer with Kenosha Police Department for seven years, according to details provided to @CNN ahead of the press conference
NEW: Jacob Blake allegedly admitted that he did have a knife on his possession and investigators recovered a knife from the driver's side floorboard of the SUV, according to details shared with @CNN by investigators ahead of press conference.
Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Paul: Police were responding to a call from Blake's girlfriend, saying that he was not supposed to be there. 1/
During the incident tried to arrest Blake and "deployed a taser to attempt to stop Mr. Blake, but the taser was not successful."
Blake walked around his vehicle and opened the driver's side door. While holding onto Blake's shirt Sheskey fired his service weapon 7 times...into his back. No other officer fired their weapon, Paul said.
The officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is underway, Paul said.
