X : You say your maps are wrong?
Me : They're all imperfect. No map is ever right.
X : But the models they're based upon are wrong?
Me : All models are.
X : So, it's wrong and imperfect. What point do they have?
Me : They seem to be useful for communication and learning.
X : But if they're wrong and imperfect then that communication and learning must be wrong and imperfect.
Me : Yes, but isn't that always true and why challenging assumptions matters?
X : Why not make a right map?
Me : I don't know how to. I only know how to make a "better" map.
X : Better than what?
Me : Better than what I had before.
X : Which was?
Me : Nothing. No map.
X : So, it's wrong and imperfect but slightly better than nothing?
Me : I like that. I might pinch that as the title of a future presentation.
