One effect of living in a society based on monoculture is that people are really concerned about all solutions work for everyone. Example: I mention nomadic pastoralism and the ways goats can be used to reduce fire and the first response is “ well everyone can’t do that” ...ok?
The whole point of polycultures, stacking functions, and getting needs met in multiple ways is that if we expect to live well on the earth we need to live a mosaic of many ways.
Also btw i’m never going to give you an answer you like about “but how will it scale” or “what if everyone did that”
There is no universal solution here.
Trust me though. 100 million chestnut trees is not an attempt to solve all problems. But there are leverage points that free up new opportunities. I truly believe that we can get this done we make an impact that opens up other actions.
If you are more excited about your own pet leverage point that’s amazing too: we need all of them.
Like I just ate some chips: even though we couldn’t only live only on chips and if everyone ate chips right now the collective noise of would cause a devastating shock wave that would break eardrums.
