Folks, simply being correct is not enough of an argument. If it were, we'd have acted on global warming decades ago, there'd be no widespread anti-vaccine movement, none of that. Being correct is not enough. You need to let people who think with their emotions help you.
I'm a person who thinks with his emotions who also recognizes how irrational and wrong this is. I will, however, be able to tell how people will be a-holes about something because I just think, "If I wanted to be an a-hole about this how could I?" and then strategize around that.
For those who believe that people are inherently rational, I say LOL. We literally set alarm clocks to the wrong time so we think it's half an hour later than it is even though we ourselves set the time just so we get out of bed. You think this species is rational?
This thread is brought to you by the misguided young man who tried to court me by randomly and without provocation challenging my belief in God who insisted that human beings themselves were capable of perfection. It got me thinking about other things, too. Anyway, ur wrong.
