What an absolutely shameful way for the @AP to start a story about a shooting. This is disgusting. Furthermore, I’m still sorting it out, but I know several people on the ground out there who saw things unfold differently. This is incomplete and shameful storytelling. Wow.
A eyewitness tells me “Regardless the idea that this kid just randomly opened fire on innocent protesters is false. Absolutely. There was a scuffle, the first victim tried to get the weapon out of his hands. The other shooting happened after the guy with the gun fell down and ..”
“ ... people can be heard shouting lets get him and then try to get on him/get his gun and he fired again. Seems like a young kid not equipped to keep his head in the moment, but not some right-wing based sort of massacre.”
“Painting it like this dude just came out and murdered people randomly is totally false. And it’s dangerous because even in the moments after the shooting the narrative out in the streets was: a white supremacist just shot innocent protesters. I heard a guy say it over the phone”
“And that’s dangerous. That’s how the Chicago rioting happened apparently the other week after someone claimed cops shot a child. Like a game of telephone.”

This is a developing story. For AP and others to make it about a “white, cop admiring” madman is just plain irresponsible.
