hey did y'all know there was a jewish guy in public radio in the 80's who was gunned down by nazis for dunking on them on his radio show
his name was alan berg. i was commissioned to do some true crime research for a client, and he was the topic i pulled up today.
i don't know a ton about him yet so i don't want to hagiographise. however, by all accounts, berg seems to have spent most of his time on the air in denver making nazis, white supremacists, and racists look fucking foolish.
on the evening of june 18th, 1984, four nazi fucks rolled up on him and pumped him full of bullets in front of his home.
something i am noticing again and again in the coverage is how he is deemed "contraversial." how that is always mentioned. but then thing is, his "contraversial" stance was just, "nazis are scum and should not be allowed to do violence against me or anyone else with impunity."
was the "contraversy" here that he opposed nazis and white supremacists? or that he wasn't polite or equivocating enough about it, and showed as much ire and derision as is appropriate for someone who wants to kill you and yours, and for such dumbshit, idiotic reasons.
the group that killed berg was insurrectionist, or at least accelerationist. they killed him as part of a larger plan to overthrow the govt and establish a white supremacist, christofascist state. (norman lear and morris dees were also on the list).
in the end, they killed him because they are petulent children--and dangerous because of it. he was some fucking dude with a radio show in denver. his major offense was making them look as stupid as they are, by not giving them a platform except for to mock them. no two-sides.
the semi-sentient pieces of elbow skin who murdered alan berg are still celebrated wildely as heroes by nazis and white supremacists. and likely by those cowardly fucks with AKs in kenosha. who, like their heroes, have benefited from sympathetic cops/infiltrating PDs themselves.
