it's really hard for me to explain what coloured culture is to people who dont care but idk its just a feeling of community, it's your mommy making soup at the first sight of rain, its gatsby and dominoes and it's the 21st key in the saal (bc where else do you throw a 21st)
its slangetjies and peanuts on that weird paper plate at parties and its sleeping on plastic chairs at 2am bc the party is still going on, its hearing the words 'milo' and thinking of the game, it's making fun of guys who are more over their takkies and revving their cars
its everyone having that dinner set with the ugly flowers on, it's the language (I had to explain what skieting a kard is to my white friends the other day😔) its swirl kouse and not being able to use the word 'you' to any adult ever, it's the plastic bags in the kitchen cupboard
its regals or quality streets on the table on christmas and koesisters on a sunday after church and a HUGE confirmation and it's a massive sunday lunch with your mommy skelling about how nobody helps her even though you just offered to help
idk culture means different things to different people but I feel closer to being coloured when I sit with my grandpa and play dominoes or when I have a koesister on a sunday and these things are so small but it's what makes me proud idk this probably sounds weird
