How I built a course and private community that’s almost 5000 strong

A short thread on launching my first info-product under my own name

(I’ve done a ton of launches for clients)
Right off the bat I knew I wanted the user experience to be solid, especially on mobile

As much as I respect what gumroad is doing for creators...

Video consumption on mobile is just not good
So I looked at Teachable, Podia and Kajabi

Kajabi is the most powerful and also includes email integration, so o started with that

But then I remembered @jackbutcher was using something else, didn’t know if it was custom or a platform
Jack was kind enough to give me a briefer on @MightyNetworks

Decided to go with that platform, even though it doesn’t take care of email

My friends @FrazzleDazzzled and @wizofecom validated that choice, too, so it was a no brainer
Content wise, I knew roughly what I wanted to share

I started with a single video module, 20 minutes long

I realized I was talking about 3-5 separate things so it would be better to break it down into modules

That’s where the fun began
Starting in late June, I’d wake up with a new module idea almost every day

And the more I built, the more I realized that I could make Twitter Growth, Influence & Monetization truly comprehensive
Outside of automation / bots, which I know nothing about, I figured I’d build the course I wish existed when I started taking Twitter seriously in late April
@joserosado and I talk often, and share what we’re working on

I told him about what I was doing and he generously offered to make a bonus module

(He nailed it, btw)
From there I took a step back and looked at what else should be included, and who the best person would be to help

Fellow twitter friends came through, bigly, and delivered great content

I’m talking about @JoshuaLisec @waronweakness @ImprovementGeek and @fromclicktosale
One more thing about tools I used

Other than Mighty, the content was created in Google Slides, recorded on @loom and hosted on @Vimeo

The genius behind editing? That would be @StackingEUR
Finally for the landing page and emails, I use @ConvertKit

One of the pages (the one you get to after you click the green button) is built in Carrd

The biggest takeaway for me is the power of audio quality

Everything was done with AirPods Pro (hat tip to @paik_michael)
I’ll be sure to step up my audio game when I move in September

Lastly I first thought I would add captions/subtitles when I first starts this project... but then it turned into about 12 hours of content, and I decided not to push back the launch for that alone
Hope this helps give you perspective on what’s involved in launching a video course, and be sure to RT the top tweet of you read this far :)
