Abel is Selena’s second date in the Boyfriend Music Video: An Abelena thread

Let’s just start off by moving past the fact that the second date is black. This isn’t the only reason he could Abel. If you continue reading you’ll actually see Abel finishing off the story for you in his MVs to tell you he’s the guy.

First you’ll have to understand the background of Boyfriend. The whole premises is that she’s looking for a boyfriend. She decides to do this by using a potion.

If you look at the three guys she decides to use the potion on, she actually wears a sequenced dress that stands out more with the second date, with the other two dates she wears black. This gives a little hint of the outcome of the dates.

You eventually see Selena pull out the potion to use it on her dates. The whole idea is if they turn into frogs, then they’re no good, kind of like a a reversed version of the princess and the frog.

As you see the transformations, if you pay close attention, you’ll actually notice the second date doesn’t entirely turn into a frog like the other two. The only thing you see turn are his hands. This is similar to what happen to Abel in his Heartless MV when he licked a frog.

After the transformations take place, you see Selena whispering in the second date’s ear saying “I want a boyfriend” and if you notice his face wasn’t transformed.

She continues to whisper in his ear while it also shows her leaving with the frogs in a car. Her whispering could have also been a moment where she tells him to follow her in his car. You’ll understand better when you keep reading.

In Abel’s Smile MV with Juice Wrld, when his part starts it shows him in a crashed car with a bright purple luminescence around him, identical to the color in the potion Selena used. It’s as if this confirms a connection and that he’s the second date still affected by the potion.

You then see Abel get out of the crashed car to see another car in front of him, as if he followed the car there (remember when I said Selena probably ask him to follow her) and crashed on the way there because of the affects of the potion used on him.

As you view the car in front of him it almost looks identical to this part in Boyfriend as Selena gets into her car.

Also when you look at the car he’s looking at from the front, it has the initials “GS” which backwards is “SG” for Selena Gomez.

And if you look at his view of the “Selena’s car” in front of him, you see a bright moon above, similar to the place where Selena drops off her frogs, further confirming he followed her there.

And in case you didn’t know, Selena is another name for Selene which in Greek mythology means “goddess of the moon.” You’ll see Abel takes a good look at the moon in the sky after he gets out of the car.

You’ll also notice he picks up what looks like a cigar on the floor. If it’s true that he followed her to the spot where she dropped off the frogs, then this can serve as an inside joke since in 2017 Selena was asked to draw anything and she drew a frog with a cigar.

So overall, I think Abel is the second date. He survived the transformation and went to follow Selena to be with her. I guess we’ll see if there’s a continuation to this story and they actually show they’re together now
