My name is KD. I am born and raised in Lake Charles, the city they expect to get the worst damage from #HurricaneLaura.
Growing up they teach us how to track hurricanes in school, and we are no stranger to major storms.

During Hurricane Harvey, we organized a drive and transported money and essentials from New Orleans to SE Texas. We provided pictures and receipts because I don't play about community.
I am a community servant, an AmeriCorps alum, and a proud Calcasieu Parish native.

I will be organizing relief efforts, and I will be pouring directly into the people most affected.

It’s unlikely that any more people will be leaving, so keep the remaining folks, including 1st responders in your thoughts and prayers. I’ll continue to give to those who left and are in need.

Venmo is going to a team of workers who are doing recovery work based out of North Lake Charles.
Everything from tarps and gas to generators. Water. Food. Chainsaws. Equipment.
They are getting our most marginalized folx taken care of.
We now have a station up and running.

Cash App is going STRAIGHT into people's hands. These are the immediate needs that are being shared with me on FB and any calls + texts I get. The on the ground team also lets me know if they encounter people with needs.
Paypal is the flux account. This money serves the above mentioned + other grassroots efforts who get to people faster than big orgs.
