What I learned yesterday. K ent is crashing due to Covid.

1. There are over 3000 ent agencies in SK. Had no idea there were that many. About 30 are closing a day.

2. Koreans groups/singers make money through concerts & events. Traveling to various cities in Korea to perform-

15 mins or so or have a full concert. Can make upto $10,000/day depending on how many shows they do a day. Agencies squeeze as many events as they can. Now that it's all stopped, many are struggling. Not exclusive to singers/groups but everyone from agencies to production comps.-

3. Importance of TV appearances: Variety, Cooking, Music shows, etc is to get national recognition. The events only invite groups/singers known to the public. More recognition/popular, higher the fee. Winning music show increases their value. It’s more valuable than variety. -

4. My friend met CEO of Hanteo yesterday. He’ll be doing online concerts with Hanteo. Online concerts will be the only route many idols, singers and agencies can make money during Covid. I didn’t know Hanteo was a big deal.

Not many make $10,000/day. That was an example of semi popular grp/singer. Nugus don’t make much. Also fee is split btw grp & agency. % based on contract. He said almost all agencies are in the negative financially. He is able to hire ppl easily bc many in ent industry lost jobs.
