Support whatever the players ultimately decide to do. Similar to the bubble in general, they're in what's really a no-win situation between money, activism, their love of the job, family, and the poor-faith actors who will frame any decision as counter to the cause.
If they ultimately decide to boycott as a means of trying to instigate more rapid and tangible change, support that. Awareness and repeated messaging was always a Step 1 in a process, not an ends itself. They're understandably frustrated and exploring ways to push things further.
And if they decide to play, support that. It's not like they lobbed empty boycott threats, they were repeatedly asked about it and said they were discussing and weighing all of the means available to them in the bubble. They're approaching it thoughtfully and conscientiously.
Similar to the choice to return to play in general, if they ultimately feel they can be better heard while playing, or even if they just want to play, that's fine. The entire burden for change doesn't fall on them. They're doing a lot, for awareness and in their own communities.
What they should do, as basketball players, in response to Black people in their communities being victims of police brutality isn't clear. They want more action, and rightfully so. Whatever they decide is the best course for that should be understood and supported.
