Disclaimer : I KNOW that this way of living doesn’t fit all lifestyles, all jobs, all studies, or that some people don’t want to live like this. I understand if you aren’t interested but please don’t be rude.
Plus, I do not pretend that I’m a professional, I only do this thread to help myself and to help people who could be interested as well.
We all live in a very hectic world, where people are always running from places to others, are loud, stressed, and rush themselves into productivity without being present, conscious of what they’re doing at a very moment.
Productivity has almost become a competition, and became a goal that makes a lot of people sad or feel bad about themselves because they're never as productive as someone they see online on Youtube or in real life.
I was one of these people. Then, I discovered what we called the "slow life". I discovered it with Youtubers and I'll link below two channels that I appreciate a lot and make the concept of slow life more understandable.
To me, slow living has simply been all about being productive while being present and conscious. It's about taking the time to do things slowly and as perfect as possible, and enjoying every moment of it, noticing and being grateful for the details that make life pretty.
It's also stopping doing everything at once. It's doing one task at a time, being entirely focused on it and getting on with another one when it's finished.
Slow, and focused.
But... how?
πŸŒ™ SLEEP AND WAKE UP EARLY.
I know this is basic, but if you can't take the time if you don't have the time. Waking up earlier will allow you to have some time for yourself while everyone is still asleep and begin your day by taking care of yourself.
Do your whole skincare regimen. Do a make up which will make you feel pretty, as well as a lovely hairstyle. Notice the silence. Let your sheets get some fresh air and do your bed. Light an incense. Journal. Prepare a good breakfast. Enjoy the sunrise.
πŸ“š PRIORITIZE YOUR TASKS.
Having the time is all about organization. If you know what you have to do that day, what's important, what's not, everything is easier.
And remember, you can't do everything at once and you're not a bad person if you didn't complete your to do list.
Find three things you NEED to do in your day, and do them first. Do them at your pace, and if it’s a big project, cut it in different parts to work on regularly so you don’t have to rush to do it in one big step.
Then, find things you WANT to do and enjoy every second of it.
The things you want to do don't have to be extra productive. It can be something as simple as reading a book, watering your plants, play ACNH, baking, gardening...
They can be seen as a reward from your hard work.
πŸ’ ROMANTICIZE AND VISUALIZE.
Slow living is also visualizing yourself as the person you dream to be, taking the time to act like it, to appreciate the way you do things, put your heart into it.
Put your time in the details, make everything aesthetic. Make your life looks like a Ghibli movie.
By taking the time to do things, you can allow yourself to notice that pretty ray of sunshine coming through your kitchen, take a second to listen to the birds outside, to look at your coffee run into your mug.
It’s all about appreciating little details and being grateful for it.
And... why?
LESS STRESS.
By organizing yourself and doing what you need to do first, you won't be caught up into so much stress. The things will be accomplished, maybe more than before, and you will be proud of yourself, satisfied.
HAPPIER.
By accomplishing what needs to be done, and still having the time to do things you want to do and enjoy them, you could find some peace and happiness in the slow way of life.
FIND YOURSELF AND RECONNECT WITH YOUR VALUES.
Having more time for yourself also helps to understand yourself, to know yourself and maybe to find new hobbies and interests. It also makes you more grateful for the things you have and more grateful for life in general.
DISTANCING FROM SOCIAL MEDIAS.
Taking more time for yourself can help to leave your phone on the side a little more and reduce more stress coming from comparing yourself with other people or just anxiety about posting or seeing everything you β€œhave” to see.
