Spandana - Sensation

Recently, there's much talk about The String Theory or The Unified Field Theory which, when completed, will unify the Quantum Mechanics and Gravitational Theory, giving us the complete picture of our universe, or the Theory of Everything.
It will establish, beyond no doubt, that there exists not just a single universe like ours that started with a Big Bang, but, a Multiverse that started with multiple Big Bangs.

It will also give us information about 10 or 11 dimensions in hyperspace just like our 3rd Dimension.
The String Theory expounds an enormously profound and exhilarating explanation of our existence.

But the basis of it is that it elaborates on the nature of what we call the subatomic particles.

Professor Michio Kaku, who is one of the founders of this model explains:
"All the particles that we see in nature - the electrons, the quarks, what have you... are nothing but vibrations on a musical string - a tiny tiny little string".

"So what is Physics? Physics is the harmony that you can write on these strings. Chemistry? It is the melodies".
"What is the Universe? The Universe is the symphonies that are being played on these strings".

Our whole universe is nothing but vibrations of Energy in form of strings. Different levels of vibrations give form to different kinds of particles.
He further states, "Existence is Cosmic Music, resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace".

These insights have been achieved through mathematical work by sum total of the humanity's expression of intellectual prowess.
But, the Yogis, Mystics, Seers and Sages have been trying to tell us something very similar throughout the ages, especially in the East.

Nada Brahm, the term, describes universe as a Sound. Sound is just a human perceptual experience of a vibration or a Spandana.
Kashmir Shaivism has a set of texts called the Spanda Karikas that were seen in depths of meditation by mystics. Spanda Karika means Works on Pulsations or Vibrations.

The nothingness, the pure awareness, is what gives form to vibrating strings of energy by modifying itself.
Last year, Michio Kaku and the contemporary mystic Sadhguru had a meeting in Russia in which they discussed about the future of technology, human consciousness and Artificial Intelligence.

It was a rare sight to behold.
Sadhguru has also expressed his insights on the nature of vibration.

He says, "Where there is a vibration, there is bound to be a sound. So, that means, the whole existence is a kind of sound, or a complex amalgamation of sounds".
"We know that if you feed any sound into an oscilloscope, every sound has a form attached to it. Similarly, every form has a sound attached to it. Every form in the existence is reverberating in a certain way and creates a certain sound."
On one account, Sadhguru describes his direct experience as follows:

"Many years ago, I used to travel alone for a month or two every year in the Himalayas, and I happened to go to Kedarnath. Kedar is a very powerful and wonderful place... (continued)
.... Above Kedar, there is a place called Kanti Sarovar, where people don’t generally go because it is a tricky climb. I trekked up to Kanti Sarovar and sat on one of the rocks there.

I just sat there, and the serenity, silence and purity penetrated my consciousness....
.... The climb, the altitude and the desolate beauty of that place left me breathless. I sat in that stillness on a small rock with my eyes open, imbibing every form around me. The surroundings gradually lost their form and only nada – sound – existed....
.... The mountain, the lake and the whole surroundings, including my body, did not exist in their usual form. Everything was just sound. Within me a song arose - Nada Brahma Vishvaswaroopa".
Not just Sadhguru, if we look at the works of Abhinavāgupt Pādāchārya, a great mystic of Trika, he states in Tantrāloka :

tvanmayam etad, aśeṣam idānīṁ
bhāti mama tvad, anugraha śaktyā

tvam ca maheśa, sadaiva mamātmā
svātma mayaṁ mama, tena samastam
“By the force of your compassion (anugraha śakti) it has been revealed to me that this Vibrating Universe is your own existence. Thus, O Lord Śiva, this realization has come to me that you are me and as such this universe is my own expression and existence.”

- Abhinavāgupt
Modern science uses mathematical deductions to arrive at an appropriate model of reality. Whereas, the yogic sciences take a direct approach of experiencing that reality of Spandana and the Anaahata, the pulsations and the unstruck sound which is the source of everything.
