Hey y'all.

A friendly reminder that the term 'Golem' refers to a very specific kind of entity from the Jewish faith. If you have a big, humanoid thing in your TTRPG world, the appropriate word to use is 'construct'.

Let's all try and be better about not appropriating.
Bc this is blowing up, take the opportunity to go check out and support this awesome TTRPG project with a ton of Jewish folklore, by Jewish tabletop creators: https://twitter.com/jaceaddax/status/1298702291751641090?s=20
Hey folx, me again. There've been some valid concerns so I wanted to address them. First, no I'm not Jewish. I didn't imply that I was, but apologies for the confusion with that.

With that being said, I want to apologize if this thread is considered--> https://twitter.com/oh_theogony/status/1298773975426883591?s=20
appropriative or speaking over Jewish voices. The original point I used was gleaned from colleagues of mine who are Jewish in the TTRPG community, so I thought it was safe to pass on. I don't see myself as the "spearhead" of this discussion, as it had been going on before-->
I got here. I saw it as passing on something that might stop someone from accidentally causing harm. However, given at least some of the responses, that's what I've ended up doing myself.

So to those in the discussion who were hurt by my post, I apologize. Intent and impact-->
are two different things, and the virtues of the former don't excuse the negative aspects of the latter.

Going forward I'm going to do my best to look before I leap and acknowledge that certain issues within marginalized groups are multifaceted and far from 'settled' in many-->
cases, and if I'm not part of those groups, to hesitate before leaping in to "take sides" when I'm an outsider to those groups.

As I mentioned before, there's a link to an anthology by some awesome Jewish TTRPG creators, and if one good thing comes from this thread it's-->
the extra reach that project gets. Please go support them with your dollars. Learn from my mistake, and listen to them.
