What's interesting about the plot line is the return of some powerful female characters, who were a part of the 2017 Wonder Woman. The all - woman army in the land of Themyscira led ably by their Amazonian queen and Wonder Woman's mother Hippolyta ...

.. and Hippolyta’s sister & Amazon army general, Antiope. They broke the stereotype in the first installment of the movie by not only exhibiting some scintillating action sequences, but also by portraying a strong sisterhood that is generally scoffed at in popular cinema.

There is also a new villain as well, again a female character called Cheetah (The bride of Urzkartaga) being played by Kristen Wiig. Cheetah has been molded into something of a mirror of Wonder Woman’s drive and origins.

She is also a woman who endowed with godly power, but where Diana derives her powers from gods who she loves & respects, Cheetah sought power for selfish reasons. Like most negative characters of DC comics, Cheetah is portrayed as a villain who is both dangerous & tragic.

Patty Jenkins returns to direct the film, that features Wonder Woman in a brand new avatar and outfit.

With a female main lead, main villain and female director as well, this film may well be on track to break stereotypes in more ways than one -

... a move about women who fight for what they believe in. It demolishes the stereotype that only men can be superheroes & women are in need to be protected or rescued or just romantic accompaniments to the main characters.

It continues to turn sexist Hollywood conventions on their head and has brought female empowerment to the big screen.

We're really looking forward to this one! What do you think?
