Logan Couture is what I would call a log cabin Republican. He has expressed support for the LGBT community and he defended Evander Kane in the anti-racist movement.

While it really sucks that his politics are not the same as mine...he should never have been punched.

I have always preached that you have to learn to have conversations with people you disagree with. That has to happen to dismantle the deep divide in our country.

At the same time, I need to know more context about the story before coming to a firm conclusion.

If he said something that is legitimately racist/sexist/misogynist, this changes the story entirely. But if all he said was that he would vote for a president due to genuinely conservative beliefs...we need to do better.

You have every right to be disappointed that his political views are different from yours. I know I am. Your feelings are valid and there is nothing wrong with that.

But do not punch him for that. Uncomfortable conversations include those with different politics.
