How shoes can tell the plight of families( #Children).
Over the past few weeks, I have been focused on documenting what's happening now that Education in On Hold.
I was keen on capturing images that will tell a story until I noticed something when I was going through the photos.
The shoes.
About half the children I have been photographing, I noted, didn't have any shoes at all. And those that did had footwear with stories to tell.
I noticed there was a huge diversity of shapes and colors, many of them showed a huge amount of wear. Many of them had these small repairs, stitches, pieces of melted plastic, that paid testament to the situation they are in.
Kids love soccer and you'll always find a group of happy Children (boys) playing football but what I can't imagine is playing football wearing inappropriate shoes like gumboots.
In addition, going barefoot presents a number of hazards, from burns and injury to catching an illness or fungus.
I can't imagine what these kids go through trekking for hours daily without shoes in the hot sun or during muddy daysđŸ˜©
I'll quote a fellow Photographer who said: "I hope the pictures ask more of the viewer than just the simple pity you feel when you look at the images of the children and what they have as the best pair of shoes.
So, a Shoe Drive Anyone?
