Refrain from walking alone at night, carry pepper spray, know how to turn your keys into a weapon, check the passenger seats of our cars before going in, never leave drinks unattended, and the list goes on and on.

We SHOULD NOT leave our homes with an inkling of fear that something will happen to us- the fear that we’re not safe. THIS SHOULD NOT BE NORMAL. And the fact of the matter is, this is a familiar trend we can see with dubbed “minorities,” and the culprit? White male supremacy.

It’s a trend we can see even more recently with the black community. They have been targeted merely because of the COLOR OF THEIR SKIN, and, unfortunately, they are faced with a devoid of safety each and every day. This pattern NEEDS TO STOP. THIS SHOULD NOT BE NORMAL.
