An update: since I did the interview for the article my employer has covered my wages for this week.
While I’m appreciative, there are so many others that would not have the same benefit because there is nothing to hold businesses accountable for the safety of their employees. https://twitter.com/ottawacitizen/status/1298598766413598721
Also to everyone commenting on the article or where it’s shared: my positive is not false, it is very real, and my symptoms are also very present and very real.
The point of this article was to highlight that you need to approach this with caution, not reckless abandon.
If your takeaway from this article is “but what if he doesn’t actually have it” then I don’t know that you’re listening to the right news outlets. It is this kind of thinking that leads to lives like mine being put in harms way.
And remember, this virus has a disproportionate impact on BIPOC communities and in many cases they may be at a disadvantage due to how the medical community perceives symptoms for them vs. white people.
Treat all people like they are at risk and be delicate.
