i just find it amazing the way the bsd verse and the bnha differs. like at first glance, u would think they’re similar, considering they’re centered around societies where people have powers. but if u dive in deeper, like even the way the world is structured is fundamentally
different? like with bsd, Ability users aren’t well-known, they’re not the majority and it’s rare for u to encounter them. a lot of the crimes happen behind the scenes and isnt that flashy? its more lowkey. it’s basically like a normal world, w some Ability users scattered in.
for bnha, the society revolves around ppl with quirks. they arent as regulated? like people just casually use their quirks in public (well u cant hide some quirks) and the crimes occur more openly. they’re less discrete. the criminals don’t usually resort to stealth.
bcs of that, heroes are an actual occupation in the bnha world. they actively patrol the streets, publicly fight crime... they’re like a protected society? sheltered from the harsh cruelties of life? like im sure ppl like all might wont let something like “the slums” to occur in
the first place. but in bsd, there arent heroes. theres the police, sure but irl u know how they are lol. the ada only works on cases the police and gov cant handle and the port mafia deal w the other criminal organisations. they dont publicly save people the way
heroes do (well most of the time they dont). like they dont fight the villains on the street in broad daylight bcs villains dont attack there in the first place (excluding fitzgerald but his goal was to destroy yokohama in the first place so i can see why he’d do it publicly).
so like even the way society behaves is different. i’d say the society in bsd is more cruel? more complacent towards crime? not in the way that they dont care about crime, they’re just indifferent when it comes to social injustice so they’re harsher in that sense.
not to mention, the motives for the antagonists in bsd and bnha are different. i feel like the villains in bnha are very... simple? like yeah they’re bad but they’re not sinister, if u get what i mean. sinister/evil incarnate would be yato’s dad in noragami bdkdh but yeah
well i wouldnt call the port mafia /evil/ also but their actions speak louder than their words? like they’re not focused on being bad, they already are bad. theyve been k*lling for years without hesitation bcs of their orders not because of ideals or convictions or wtv
they just.... do it. which tbh is scarier bcs k*lling bcs u have strong ideals/convictions on why ppl should d*e vs killing bcs u’re told to do so and u dont really feel strongly about it.... idk about u but to me indifference is scarier. also not to mention bcs of
the unsheltered way society is in the bsd verse, a lot of ppl grew up in harsh conditions. atsushi in the orphanage, gin and akutagawa in the slums, kyouka in the alleys after her parents d worded, chuuya and his sheep members... like bcs of society’s indifference towards
social injustice, it wasnt really out of the norm for children to grow in that kind of environment? u see children at the slums fighting each other + adults to survive, children in the orphanage who didnt want to get punished ganging up on others, like im not saying it doesnt
happen in bnha, but it isnt as widespread. in a society filled with heroes, a place like the slums of yokohama surely wouldnt exist. the concept of “indifference towards social injustice” didnt exist there. i guess the essence of what im trying to say is bnha is more
black and white, while bsd is a lot more gray. like in bnha its obvious what good and whats bad, whats wrong and whats right but in bsd the line often gets blurred. im not saying one is better than the other, im just simply stating my opinion on the differences that i think i
managed to observe when watching these two shows. i love both of them a lot which is why i put a lot of thought in it hskdh
ooh i just remembered.... like bcs of the harsh conditions the children of yokohama had to grow up in, i feel like they’re tougher bcs they have actual experience battling criminals ever since they were young (in akutagawa and gin’s case) or they had to fight to live (atsushi)
looking at it objectively, if the ADA were pit against the heroes, based on experience, combat ability and the circumstances they grew up in, i think the ADA would win tbh ((in my opinion))
