NEET

While it might have been a slip of tongue by the CM it holds a lot of truth.

If the system of NEET continues most of the girl candidates would only wish to have a husband who is a doctor.

I say this because such entrance exams have gender disparity.
I have finished my MBBS and in my class of 100 students back in college men:women students was around 50:50. Sometimes the number of women students was higher than then men candidates.

After MBBS when I joined coaching centre for NEET PG entrance, the ratio was of M:W was 70:30
I got into a govt college for MBBS with my 12th marks which ensured a 50:50 gender ratio whereas even at the level of coaching centres for entrance exam the ratio gets skewed and biased
It's not because women candidates are undeserving
It's because of the systemic societal bias
IITs are an excellent example for the study of biased nature of these entrance exams.

Ratio of girls to boys continue to be extremely low.

Only 8% of IIT candidates were girls in 2016. This has been the case for many years.
Assocham survey (2016) showed that 95% of Indian students opted coaching centre for such entrance exams.

And it was obvious from the survey that this gender disparity started with coaching centres as societal norms didn't encourage parents to invest on women education.
Taking an example of a coaching centre, Kota coaching centre , which is the hub for entrance exam coaching,
enrolment of girl students was low when compared to that of boy students.

Also it's a well known fact that every years numerous suicides take place owing to pressure.
IITs have created supernumerary seats and reserved it completely for women candidates.

What's the use of reservation when women candidates are not even allowed to participate/ enter the competition?

Where's the level playing field?
There were only 46 women candidates on the first 1000 rank in JEE advanced exam

Girl students score equally well / even better than boys in schools where as that's not the case in entrance exams.

It's because a girl student doesn't have the same access as that of a boy student
India is not implementing common entrance exams for almost all professional courses including arts and sciences streams.

Reason for designing such entrance exam is given as to improve the standard of education.

So, is it okay if women are left out of the system?
They also cite SAT exams as an example for such standardised common entrance exams.

The truth is SAT exams are being questioned. The methodology is being questioned as it has inherent bias towards the underprivileged groups.

So, if this system of entrance exams and coaching centre continues,
Girls students could only hope for a doctor husband in the future.
Is implementing*
