The public consultation for DART+ West (Maynooth & M3 Parkway) is now live! This will increase the passenger capcity from 4,500 to 13,750 in 2025. One of the biggest changes is the potential relocation of Docklands Station to Spencer Dock.
The number of trains per hour will increase from 7 to 15
Spencer Dock, 'subject to further assessment', will become a fully fledged station right in the docklands with five platforms and a direct interchange with the Luas Red Line.
As we already knew from the MetroLink plans, there will also be a new station at Cross Guns called Glasnevin. This will be an interchange between the Phoenix Park Tunnel line, Maynooth line and MetroLink.
It's proposed to close six level crossings: Ashtown, Coolmine, Porterstown, Clonsilla, Barberstown and Blakestown.
At Ashtown, they're proposing a new underpass below both the railway line and the canal to the west of the level crossing.
At Coolmine, a new road bridge over the railway line and canal to the west and a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the existing level crossing is proposed.
At Porterstown and Clonsilla, they're propsing new pedestrian and cycle bridges over the railway line only.
At Barberstown, a new road bridge would be built over the railway line and canal south west of the existing level crossing. No replacement infrastructure is proposed for the Blakestown level crossing.
Beyond Maynooth, the line is currently single track. A second track will be built between the canal and the railway to the new depot near Kilcock.
