Fringe-related tweets: I really like Fringe as a show and one of my favourite things was the relationships between the characters.
I follow Jasika Nicole on IG because she's an amazing crafter (sewing, shoe making, pottery, art, etc etc) and I was really excited when I realised that she was also Astrid from Fringe.
I got the impression that she didn't have the best time making Fringe though (but I couldn't find anything specific when I googled it) and that made me sad because she's great in real life and nobody should have a shit time at work.
But she's said some stuff on Twitter recently about her experiences and they sound like they really sucked and were definitely racial microaggressions (or just straight up aggressions) - not getting travel with other main cast, people not bothering to get her name right, etc
One of the things she talked about was the running gag about Walter getting Astrid's name wrong, and how it really upset her because it was a continuation of lived experience as a Black woman of people mispronouncing her name, and while it might have been funny once or twice-
-at the beginning (there are Watsonian reasons why Walter would have issues with names), it continued through 5 seasons even though he never had issues with any of the other main cast's names.
John Noble replied by tweet to her to apologise for any disrespect and she replied to say that working with him had been great and it wasn't his fault. I am so glad that was the case because they had such a lovely relationship on screen that I'd hate for it to have been all lies.
Sounded from her tweets that Pacey from Dawson's Creek was also a supportive colleague, so I am glad about that too.
Anyway, that's the end of this thread.
