Here's a "shovel ready" project that would help those most hit my unemployment and underemployment due to Covid-19 - women and kids: Immediately authorise the hiring of a teacher aide for every NZ public school classroom for the rest of the year. #ShovelReadyNZ

Or what about this one: Hire a counsellor for every school or community of schools for the rest of the year. #ShovelReadyNZ

Or what about this mad cap idea: Roll out the free school meals to another 2 deciles for the rest of the year. #ShovelReadyNZ

Or what about funding the refurbishment of every school pool in NZ so that they are safe to use for another decade? #ShovelReadyNZ

Or urgently taking asbestos roofs out of every classroom that has them? That'd be a good idea. @ShovelReadyNZ

Or what about this one: what about fitting schools with solar panels to help save the planet, create jobs *and* cut down school power bills? That's a Green policy most could get behind. #ShovelReadyNZ

Any of these would be preferable to handing almost $12 million to a private school to expand its *business*.
