Shoes must be pointed and clean. (Actually this fits a saying by a Russian friend: "How do you spot a Russian GRU officer abroad? Their shoes are spotless and glossy as that's what they taught them at GRU school")

Aahh, if I could have a markka for every GRU spy I identified because they abused their cream and sugar.

They did everything by the book: paid attention to their moustache and beard, waddled a little, had clean shoes and didn't tuck their sweater. What went wrong??

Do not assist yourself with a knife. Easier said than done.
