Had a really long and deep conversation with my dad yesterday about my future if I were to choose music as a career. I gave examples of taylor swift etc and he was really understanding and gave me a lot of insights about the industry which he noticed from his experience and++
He said that even if I become successful at one point with my music after that peak stage goes no one will care about u anymore and you will be in loss in the following years. Unless you constantly reinvent yourself but usually even if you do the public might not be content++
with that even if your music is genuinely good. This is totally true tbh but i gave him an example of taylor swift and he said that she has been in this career for 15 years, and can go another several years. But she is an exception. How many others will be able to do what++
she did? But we cannot generalize with her. If you were to join the industry you need to expect what is considered to be the GENERAL idea of what happens to artists after 1-2 years of their peak. Although it doesn& #39;t happen to many and they continue to release music, it becomes++
something that is not being able to fulfill their lavish lifestyle they r used to since their peak. So after that you gotta start side deals like make up lines, fashion lines etc and that is a riskier move. After this he said that if music is my passion, he is not stopping++
Me at all. And if my passion happens to become a profession in the future, he& #39;ll be happy for me but he doesn& #39;t want me to FIGHT to make it my profession because that career is highly uncertain and risky and he wants to save me from that horrible hardships and if I++
leave my studies for it, I& #39;ll be losing the opportunity to get a job to earn a living and have a stable career. Cuz it& #39;s not easy to earn money nowadays the only way how it& #39;s RELATIVELY easier to get a STABLE job is if you study. Which is frustrating but we have to accept++
this. And since I& #39;m in INDIA it& #39;s even worse for me as not everyone will hear english music here.

Idk why I& #39;m writing this thread but maybe cuz what he said was so true and applies to what sooo many good artists go through in this industry stan twitter is obsessed with.
