Last night, I was confused by odd wording in a Peston tweet. This led down rabbit hole: discovered he had 2 year history of using Cummings as source. On Mar 12, Peston broke herd immunity story. This isn’t some sort of critique of Peston. But his ‘source’ had intimate knowledge of strategy that ended up killing 10s of 10000s of people. Is there public interest in protecting this ‘source’? Surely the public interest here is on the public’s right to know?

Certain parts of lobby were too close to power to report critically on it. That’s what Vote Leave scandal revealed. A pattern repeated with terrible consequences in early days of coronavirus crisis. But this is beyond that. Herd immunity was a catastrophe. We need to know
