The last two years I've conducted different ux #remoteresearch with users in different countries. Some of my lessons learned: (thread)
1. Maximum 3 interviews a day for better moderator mental wellbeing. (You can switch with notetaker if need 6 )
2. Sessions should be max 1hour length, for better user mental wellbeing.
3. Use two monitors always.
4. Prepare a protocol if there are network issues and be flexible
5. Avoid recording tools that require too much set up or app installing. Try do the setup early not right before the session. If technology doesn't work properly the user will join the session in bad mood or tired, affecting the "ux" of the test.
6. Make a B plan for the technical issues so you can cover the main points of your research before to end. Prioritize tasks and if need it finish the interview by phone. Install any recording audio/video app on your phone
7. Remind to send clear instructions to the user in advance (include graphic or infographic ideally). Try they use headphones and avoid backlighting.
8. Remind the user the appointment at least 4hours in advance and provide a direct contact with moderator to resolve connection issues.
9. Be patient, overall on mobile research, since the user can receive a call and suddenly stop everything
