On 12 January 1904, Chief Samuel Maharero led a revolt against German brutal forces, around 123 Germans were killed, his forces went on to capture and kill more Germans, only sparing women and children.
Chief Hosea Kutako was the founder of the first nationlist party in. Namibia(SWANU) aimed at attaining independence for the motherland, he sent several petitions to the UN, calling for an end to the apartheid rule in Namibia.
King Mandume yaNdemufayo was one of the few kings who fought tooth&nail against imperialism when it was not fashionable to do so, he died in action in 1917, fighting for the motherland.
King Nehale lyaMpingana fought and won two wars against intruders into their area. In 1886, South African settlers on their Dorsland Trek were defeated after they acquired land between Otavi and Grootfontein, and declared it to be the Republic of Upingtonia. #OurHeroes
King Iipumbu yaTshilongo was the eighteenth king of Uukwambi, he resisted European cultural influence exercised via the establishment of mission stations and administrative outposts. He consistently rebuked the Missionaries and the South West African Administration for years.
Jacob Kuhanga, Emile Appolus, Salomon Mifima, Lucas Haleinge Nepela, Andimba Toivo yaToivo and others founded OPC then OPO which translated into SWAPO that then waged the armed liberation movement via PLAN, the Armed Military Wing of SWAPO.
Sam Nujoma was elected the first president of SWAPO from 1960-2007, the rest is history. #OurHeroes
Tobias Hainyeko was the founding commander of PLAN. Him together with John Otto Nankudhu, Patrick Lungada, Peter Nanyemba and others set up military camps in Zambia, Tanzania then Angola and Omugulugwombashe, were the war of the liberation was launched on 26 August 1966.
